UP Police Civil Police also continued to grow and Mr. BN Lahiri IGP was the first Indian state after independence. The performance of the State Police in the areas of Crime and the maintenance of law and order was greatly appreciated and had the proud privilege of being the first police force in the country that gave the honor to receive the colors of 13 November 1952 by then Prime Minister of India, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru.
