Surinder Jakhar Jakhar was elected to Punjab Assembly in 1972 and was reelected in 1977 to become the leader of the opposition. He was elected to the Lok Sabha Seventh Ferozepur in 1980 and reelected to the eighth Lok Sabha from Sikar in 1985. He served as President of Lok Sabha from 1980 to 1989.Surinder Kumar Jakhar was the son of Dr. Balram Jakhar, a prominent politician of Punjab and a former president of the Lok Sabha. Surinder Jakhar was a prominent leader of India’s cooperation.
