Nina simone Eunice Kathleen Waymon is one of my favorite people. I started listening to her music when I was in grade school and have been addicted since. Some of you may know her a the one and only Nina Simone. She was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, arranger, and civil rights activist widely associated with jazz music. I remember the first time I heard her, mom was playing her song ”My Baby Just Cares for Me”. For weeks she played it over and over again until me and my sister couldn’t help but sing along. Then one day I asked her who the man was singing the song and she said “its Nina Simone, and she’s a woman”. Sheesh.
